Editorial Board

The editorial board decides what is published, and helps students get their work to a standard where it can be. Members are listed on the Members page.

What the board does

• Reads every submission, and gives written feedback on each one — including those we do not publish.
• Judges presentations on forum day and agrees the placings.
• Sets the standard for what a Medical Review article looks like, and keeps it steady from year to year.
• Handles anything raised under our Ethics Policy.

Who sits on it

The board combines student editors, teaching staff and outside advisers — usually clinicians or researchers who read in the relevant field. Student editors are drawn from those who have been published themselves, so the people assessing the work have recently done it.

How decisions are made

Every submission is read independently by at least two board members. Where they disagree, a third reads it and the board discusses it before deciding. No one assesses work by a student they have supervised, or from a team they are part of.

Joining the board

Student editor places open each year, usually to students who have been through the programme. If you are a teacher or clinician who would like to read for us, get in touch.
