Submission Guidelines

Medical Review welcomes thoughtful, evidence-based work from student writers. Use these guidelines before uploading your manuscript through the submission page.

We currently accept research reviews, case commentaries, opinion pieces, interview features, and student perspectives.

Eligibility

  • Submissions are open to secondary school and undergraduate writers worldwide.
  • Co-authored work is welcome if all contributors are credited clearly.
  • Pieces should be original and not under review elsewhere unless disclosed in the cover note.

Scope

  • We prioritize medicine, biomedical science, global health, ethics, and health policy.
  • Strong submissions explain why the topic matters, not just what happened.
  • Arguments should be grounded in reliable sources rather than unsupported opinion.

Formatting

  • Recommended length is 500 to 3,000 words depending on format.
  • Upload your manuscript as a PDF, DOC, or DOCX file.
  • Use clear headings, consistent citations, and a readable structure.

Referencing

  • APA or MLA styles are both acceptable if used consistently.
  • Reference primary literature whenever possible.
  • Include enough citation detail for the editorial team to verify sources.

Editorial Review

  • Each submission is screened for fit, clarity, and evidence quality.
  • Writers may be asked for revisions before publication.
  • Typical response time is about 4 to 6 weeks, though complex edits may take longer.

Before You Submit

  • Proofread for grammar, structure, and citation consistency.
  • Confirm that all facts, statistics, and claims are sourced accurately.
  • Use the cover note to mention the article type, target audience, and any special context.
